Description
The 1954 Bowman set consists of 224 cards that measure 2 1/2" by 3 5/8. Forty of the cards in this set are variations as they have statistical errors.
In 1954, Topps signed exclusive contract with Ted Williams which forced Bowman to pull card #66 of Williams from its set. Bowman replaced #66 with a card of Jimmy Piersall who was also featured on card #210.
Some people say that the uniforms of Oriole players depicted in this set were made up by the artists at Bowman due to the fact that Browns moved to Baltimore in 1954 and didn't have uniforms yet.
Distribution
One card wax packs: 120 packs per box (MSRP: $0.01)
Seven-card wax packs: 24 packs per box (MSRP: $0.05)
