Located in Philadelphia, The Bowman Gum Company (formerly Gum, Inc.) released its first major set in 1948. The 1948 Bowman Baseball card set consisted of 48 black and white cards that measure 2 1/16in. by x 2.5in. Notable rookie cards include: Yogi Berra, Stan Musial, Phil Rizzuto, Warren Spahn and Red Schoendiens.
