Description

2016 Topps Archives Signature Series All-Star Edition was released exclusively to Hobby outlets August 30th, 2016. As with the previous year's product, each box contains one encased autographed buyback card which is stamped as coming from this product and serial-numbered to 99 copies or less.

Rather than the plastic "slabs" Topps had used in the past (in brands like Topps Tribute and eTopps), each card is encased in an off-the-shelf BCW Mini Snap magnetic holder with a sticker sealing it shut. Since One Touch holders can only fit standard-sized (2 1/2" X 3 1/2") cards, all pre-1957 Topps cards (which measure 2 5/8" X 3 3/4") used in this product are encased in top-loaders.

As the subtitle of the product's name suggests, each player was at one point in their career an All-Star. New for 2016 are multi-player autographs and autographed game-used Relic cards.

There appears to be a significant number deceased players -- some dead for over a decade. It is unclear how Topps acquired these cards (i.e. whether these players signed for Topps before their death, or if these autographs were purchased by Topps from third-parties).

Distribution

One encased autographed buyback card per box (MSRP: $50). 20 boxes per case.
