[[2011 Topps Gypsy Queen]] was released April 25, 2011. Collectors are discovering that Gypsy Queen is a different product than what Topps originally advertised in late 2010. The base set has been reduced to 350 cards and early reports of hobby box breaks are yielding one less autograph. See the official [http://www.toppsblog.com/?p=881 Topps statement] for more info on the missing autograph. In addition, there are numerous inserts (Sticky Fingers, Wall Climbers) that were not on the original sell-sheets. We will have more information on Gypsy Queen as it becomes available.

[[2011 Topps Tribute]] was released on April 11, 2011. Each five card pack will yield either an autograph or relic card serial-numbered to 99 copies or less, and a parallel serial-numbered to 399 copies or less. The base set, like last year, will consist of 100 cards and there are no on-card autographs -- just stickers and cuts. Unlike last year, all cards will be of actual baseball players.

Despite the fact that the Hobby edition is not scheduled for released until the week of the 25th, 2011 Bowman packs are beginning to show up as mass-market retail chains. Already, a copy of Bryce Harper's Bowman Chrome Prospect card sold for an astonishing $135 on eBay. It also appears that the much ballyhooed autographs of Bryce Harper and Manny Machado packed out as redemptions.

Upon the release of Gypsy Queen, there is talk abound the hobby about limited availability. Some long-time set builders are debating on buying retail rather than hobby due to the high initial cost of hobby boxes.

The first series of Topps' flagship has been out for a couple of weeks, and as usual, there are many unannounced surprises. Over 50 players have a "Twink" variation, with these cards falling at about one-per-case. Many collectors have reported that the manufactured Glove Nameplate "relic" cards are falling apart right out of the pack. The mad scramble for Diamond Giveaway code cards are keeping the price of wax in the $65-$69/box range for Hobby and $109-$119/box for HTA.
