The two Mickey Mantle cards are short-printed, with half the VIP bags getting card #573, the other half getting #574.

  • Although not appearing in the original 1960 set, Cal Ripken, Jr. was included as 1) he was born in 1960 and 2) The National was in Baltimore.
  • Each four-card VIP pack is wrapped in clear plastic with a Mickey Mantle card showing on top.

A card of Stephen Strasburg, done in the style of the 1961 Topps set and serial-numbered to 999 copies, was given away to attendees of the 2010 National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore. To receive the card, collectors had to purchase and open at Topps' corporate booth ten packs of any 2010 Topps baseball product (except Opening Day).

Ninety-nine cards were available on day one, with a further 225 cards on each of the remaining four days, with a limit of one card per person, per day.

The week before The National, as part of a fund raiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the card serial-numbered "001/999" sold for $869 on eBay.
