'''2001 Fleer Platinum''' was a baseball card set produced and distributed by [[Fleer Skybox International|Fleer]]. The set was originally intended to be a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the [[1981 Fleer]] set. Also the set was also intended to only be a 300 card set. But after the set was so successful, a second series was quickly produced and released later in the year.

===Classic Combinations===
The Classic Combinations set was inserted into all pack types.  Cards 1-10 are serial numbered to 250.  Cards 11-20 are serial numbered to 500.  Cards 21-30 are serial numbered to 1000.  Cards 31-40 are serial numbered to 2000.  

The set is paralleled by a retail version that was inserted 1:20 retail packs only and are virtually identical to the main set except that none of the cards are serial numbered.

Eleven of the forty cards are also paralleled with a game used card.  These cards feature a piece of game used memorabilia from each player and are all serial numbered to 25 copies each.

Inserted into second series rack packs at a rate of 1:1, this 27 card set features some of the more feared sluggers in the game, as well as several young hitters poised for a breakout. The cards are unnumbered, but typically organized alphabetically by last name. The [[Albert Pujols]] card is notable as one of the game used cards from his rookie year.

===Rack Pack Autographs===

This 21-card set is one of the real highlights of the group of insert sets in 2001 Fleer Platinum. The cards are buy-backs from other Fleer releases that were hand signed and inserted into Series 1 Rack Packs. Most of the cards were serial numbered by hand on the card front.
