2019 Bowman Heritage
Description
2019 Bowman Heritage is a 121-card set supplemented with a 129-card Prospects set and was released exclusively on Topps' website December 5th. Members of Topps' 582 Montgomery Club were able to order boxes two days earlier. This is the first Bowman Heritage set in 12 years and is based on the 1953 Bowman set.
Each ten-card pack will contain two Chrome Prospects, and each 24-pack Hobby box will yield eight Black & White parallels, seven Chrome Prospects Refractors, and a Chrome Prospect or Chrome Rookie autograph.
Only 8458 boxes were produced.
Inclusion of Yordan Alvarez
Yordan Alvarez, the 2019 American League Rookie of the Year, has his first "true" rookie card (#53VR-55) in 2019 Bowman Heritage. It was previously reported that Alvarez, despite making his Major League debut June 9th, 2019, would NOT appear in an MLB-licensed base set until 2020 -- a decision made by the MLBPA. It is unclear if Topps intended to include Alvarez in the Bowman Heritage Prospects set (which is technically an insert) and added him to the base set on accident, or if Topps was given special dispensation to include Alvarez in the Bowman Heritage base set.
