Description

1991 Stadium Club is a 600-card set that marked Topps first truly "premium" quality set. The set was issued in two separate series of 300 cards each.

The set created a stir in the Hobby upon release as it was the first to feature UV-coated, dazzling full-color borderless photos. This set is still considered to be one of the landmark products in Hobby history.

Distribution

36 packs per box, 12 cards per pack (MSRP: $1.25)

Series One was exclusive to Hobby dealers and upon release that pack prices quickly skyrocketed past the $5, $6, even $8 mark. For Series Two, Topps upped the MSRP to $1.99/pack. Series Two packs were also available for $1.99/pack at selected McDonald's restaurants in the Northeastern U.S.

Not much is known about these cards. It is believed that Topps distributed these cards to their sales team and to major distributors. The set consists of 50 cards and it's believed that 300-600 copies of each card was produced. The fronts are identical to the player's respective base card; however, the backs, which aren't numbered, have a reprint of Jose Canseco's 1986 Topps Traded card.

Pre-Production Press Promos

These are identical to the pre-production promos except for their size. They are larger than the standard size measuring 2.75 by 3.75in. It appears that every card in the pre-production promo set was produced, however the print run is uncertain at this time.

These cards, which measure 2.75 x 3.75 inches, are missing the Stadium Club logo and UV coating. It appears that these cards were distributed directly from Topps via the Topps Vault program. It appears that every card in the set was produced, however the print run is uncertain at this time.
