1994 Collector's Choice Series 2 box

Description

Collector's Choice is a 670-card set was distributed in two series of 320 and 350, respectively. Subsets include Rookie Class (1-20), First Draft Picks (21-30), Top Performers (306-315), Up Close (631-640) and Future Foundation (641-650).

Rookie Cards include Michael Jordan and Alex Rodriguez.

White Letter Variations

A legitimate variation on the Alex Rodriguez card (#647) was verified several years after release. The standard card features the "A" from Alex on the card back text in grey/silver whereas the variation features his name in white. It's believed that the A-Rod "White A" variation is a significantly tougher card, but exact estimates of its scarcity are not known. In subsequent years, other cards (such as Johnny Damon) were also verified to have this white letter variation - thus it's generally believed that the entire Future Foundations subset was produced with white (and standard grey) letter variations.

Wax: 36 packs per box, 12 cards per pack (MSRP: $0.99).

Checklist

Base Set

Series One

Parallels

Each base card is available in the following parallels:

  • Silver Signature
  • Gold Signature

On each card, the player autograph is stamped with either Gold or Silver Foil. Like in the base set, "White Letter" variations also exist for the Gold and Silver Signature parallels of the Future Foundations subset.

It should also be noted that UD accidentally stamped the signature of Baltimore Orioles general manager Roland Hemond onto Jeffery Hammonds Singature parallels. This error was never corrected.

Inserts

Home Run All-Stars

This eight-card holographic set was given away as a prize in the "You Crash the Game" contest. Randomly inserted into Series One packs at the rate of 1:36 was an instant win contest card. Other prizes included autographed memorabilia, complete sets of Silver and Gold Signature cards, and the Grand Prize, a chance to be on Ken Griffey, Jr's 1995 Collector's Choice card.
