Description

Released in the summer of 1997, E-X2000 (produced by Fleer's Skybox unit) consists of 102 cards. The cards are printed on translucent acetate with layered action photos, giving them a "shadowbox" effect.

Unlike that year's basketball version (1996-97 E-X 2000) which has a Kobe Bryant rookie card, there are no notable rookies in this set.

Distribution

A hobby exclusive, each box of 1997 E-X2000 contained 24 packs of 2 super premium cards each.

Dealers who ordered E-X2000 cases were given an Alex Rodriguez promo card. The card paralleled his base card but is marked "SAMPLE" on the back.

Additionally, an over-sized promotional "strip" featuring A-Rod also exists and is considered to be very rare.

Hall or Nothing features 20 players whom Fleer believed were destined for the Hall of Fame. Each card is die-cut and features etched copper foil; however, a number of cards have emerged with etched gold foil. It is unclear if these gold cards were intended for release.
