Description
1997 Sports Illustrated is a 180-card set released by Fleer in the summer of '97. This would be the first set in a three-year partnership between SI and Fleer. The set features photographs taken from the archives of Sports Illustrated magazine.

Autographed Mini-Covers
This six-card set features an on-card autograph on a reprint of a classic Sports Illustrated cover. Only 250 hand-numbered copies of each autograph produced. Each card is embossed with the Fleer logo.
NOTE: Some copies of these autographs have surfaced without the hand‑numbering normally found on the reverse. This absence does not, by itself, indicate that the front‑side signature is inauthentic. For several years, Fleer inserted “buyback” autographs from this set into other products. One example is the Willie Mays autograph in 2001 Fleer Platinum, which is hand‑numbered to 115 on the front but carries no numbering on the back.
