Description
1994 SP is a 200-card all-foil set released in August, 1994. The first 20 cards in the set make up a Premiere Prospects subset which are printed on etched-foil. The remainder of the set is in alphabetical order by team nickname.
This set was notable for featuring holographic imagery of player's faces in the Holoview inserts, which later became a staple of brand through 1997.
Additionally, this year's release would be the only time the entire SP/SP Authentic base set would be printed on foil.
Rookie Cards include Chan Ho Park, Derrek Lee, and Alex Rodriguez.

Parallels
Each pack contains one die-cut parallel. As a security measure, all die-cut cards have a silver hologram on the back; whereas the base cards have gold holograms.
Inserts
Holoview F/X
One of the landmark insert sets of the 90s, this 38-card set features "Holoview" 3-D hologram technology that allows for multiple images to be seen under direct light. (On some players, you can see the player's facial expression change as you tilt the card.) The set features a card of Michael Jordan who, due to licensing restrictions, does not appear in the SP base set. This was the first time this technology was seen in a mainstream release and became a staple of brand through 1997.
Frank Thomas and Barry Bonds were originally part of the set, but both players were pulled due to them both having endorsement deals with Donruss, at the time.
All cards are also available in a die-cut "Special F/X" parallel. The base Holoviews are commonly referred to as the "Blues" while the Special F/X parallels are also known as the "Reds."
It has been estimated that the production of Special F/X's was around 700 copies.
