Set of the Month
1977 Kellogg's is a 57-card lenticular 3-D set. This is the sixth straight year the cereal maker issued a fully-licensed baseball card set. Each card, which measures 2 1/8" X 3 1/4" were inserted into specially-marked boxes of Kellogg's breakfast cereals. This would be the final season in which a picture of the player would be included on the back of each card. Factory sets were also available via a mail-order offer. |

Just released2015 Topps Tribute is a 100-card set released the week of March 18th, 2015, but recalled by Topps a day later. Each pack contained one serial-numbered autographed or game-used "Relic," and it is a quality-control issue with the autographs that caused Topps to recall the product. Shortly after the product's release, collectors began to complain that many of the autographs were coming out of the pack either scratched or smeared. In a press release, Topps blamed the issue on "UV contamination" and announced a recall of the product. As part of the recall, collectors who have any remaining unopened boxes or cases of 2015 Topps Tribute have until March 27th, to return them to their local Hobby dealer for a full refund. In addition, collectors who already opened a pack of Tribute and received a damaged autograph, have until June 30th to exchange their cards with Topps for replacement. It is currently unclear what (if anything) Topps plans on doing with the recalled 2015 Topps Tribute base cards, parallels, or Relics. 2015 Topps Opening Day is a 200-card set released March 18, 2015. As usual, the base set is a stripped down rendition of the 2015 Topps flagship set. Each pack will contain one insert. 2015 Donruss is a 245-card set released on March 11. With a bizzare design loosely based on the 1985 Donruss and 1987 Donruss sets, each 24-pack Hobby box will yield at least one autograph and two game-used memorabilia cards. 95 base cards are short-printed with the final 50 cards done in the style of the 1981 Donruss set. 2015 Topps Stickers were released on March 4, 2015. Each packet contains eight stickers and fifty packets come inside a retail box. The complete set consists of 301 stickers, which includes 236 current players, 19 retired players, 16 team mascots and a team logo sticker for every team. The 32-page album comes with 6 stickers. 2015 Topps Heritage, released during the first week of March 2015, is a 500-card set. This year's set, the fifteenth, is based on the 1966 Topps set. 2015 Topps Series One was released in the first week of February 2015. Similar to previous years, 2015 Topps Series One is distributed in various packaging formats: Hobby box, hobby jumbo box, retail box, retail rack packs, retail blasters and retail hanger boxes. Each hobby box promises one relic or auto while each hobby jumbo box promises one auto and two relics. When it comes to design, variety, configuration, card details, etc..... some collectors think 2015 Topps is one of the strongest flagship offerings in years. 2014 Panini Elite Extra Edition is a 95-card set supplemented by a 98-card "Prospects" set, that was released January 7, 2015. Each 20-pack Hobby box will yield six autographs and a USA Baseball jersey card. 2014 National Treasures is a 224-card set released by Panini on January 2, 2015. Each eight-card box will contain four autographs, one multi-swatch "Book" card, and three other "hits." 2014 Bowman Sterling is a 50-card set, supplemented by a 50-card "Prospects" insert set, released December 31, 2014. Each four-card pack will yield three autographs. 2014 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects is a 220-card set, released exclusively to Hobby outlets, on December 10, 2014. Each Hobby box will yield one autograph; Jumbo boxes three autographs; and the new Super Jumbos, five autographs. 2014 Topps Five Star was released December 10th. Unlike the previous year's product, there will be no "base set," and noticeably fewer Relics. Each six-card box will yield: Four autographs Either an autographed Relic or a Golden Graph or Silver Signature autograph Either a fifth autograph, a Legends Relic, a one-of-one Relic, or a one-of-one Cut Signature 2014 Topps Dynasty was released December 3, 2014. Each card is a either a one-of-one cut signature, or an autographed patch card serial-numbered to 10 copies or less. 2014 Topps High Tek, a 100-card (or 600 counting all the patterns) set, was released in early December 2014. After a 14-year hiatus, Topps has brought back the all-acetate card set, popular with extreme set collectors. However, the format only bears a passing resemblance to the original product. Each eight-card box will yield one autograph and one serial-numbered parallel. 2014 Panini Classics is a 200-card set released November 19. Each 24-pack mini box will contain two 12-pack mini boxes, each of which will yield one autograph and one memorabilia card. This product contains the first memorabilia cards of Hall of Famers Roger Bresnehan, Bob Meusel and Gabby Hartnett 2014 Topps Heritage High Numbers is a 100-card set released exclusively by Topps via their web store shoptopps.com. Each sealed set comes with a Real One autograph. Released exclusively to retail outlets in special "Mega Boxes" on November 19, 2014 Topps Chrome Update is a 55-card partial parallel of the 2014 Topps Update base set. Each Mega Box contained five packs of 2014 Topps Update and two packs of Chrome Update and retailed for $14.99. 2014 Panini Prizm Perennial Draft Picks is a 150-card set released November 12, 2014. Like the previous year's product, the set does not feature any current Majoe League players, and is NOT licensed by either MLB Properties or the MLB Players Association -- despite Panini's license with the MLBPA. Each 12-pack Hobby box will yield four autographs and five Prizm parallels -- three of which will be serial-numbered. 2014 Topps Supreme was be released October, 29. Just like last year's product, every card in the set will be autographed and serial-numbered to 50 copies or less. Unlike 2013 Supreme which was exclusive to the Asian market, 2014 Supreme is available worldwide. 2014 Topps Update is a 330-card set released October, 15. 2014 Panini Hall of Fame 75th Anniversary is a 300-card set released the week of October 8. Each 12-card box will yield two autographs, six inserts, and four base cards. All base cards are serial-numbered to 75 copies or less. |
