Description

1999 Fleer Tradition is a 600-card, single-series, set released in March, 1999. Subsets include: Franchise Futures (576-590) and Checklists (591-600).

In December, 1999 Fleer released the "Millennium Edition" factory set. Limited to only 5000 sets, the Millennium Edition features all 600 cards from the Fleer Tradition base set plus 20 selected cards from 1999 Fleer Tradition Update. It was sold primarily through the Shop at Home network.

Parallels

Vintage '61

Seeded at the rate of one-per-Hobby pack, this set partially-parallels the first 50 cards in the set using the design of the 1961 Fleer Baseball Greats set.

Warning Track

Seeded at the rate of one-per retail pack, each card has special "Warning Track Collection" foil stamp on the front. The back of each card is sequentially-numbered with a "W" prefix.

Staring 9

Randomly inserted into Hobby packs, each card has a special "Starting 9" foil stamp on the front. In addition, each card is serial-numbered to nine copies.

Millennium Edition

5000 Millennium Edition factory sets were produced by Fleer and sold in December, 1999. Each set came shrink-wrapped in an attractive factory box, of which is sealed with a gold sticker that is serial-numbered to 5000. Each set contains 620 cards consisting of the 600-card basic issue set plus 20 cards from the 1999 Fleer Tradition Update set (rookies U1-U10 and highlights U141-U150). The cards hailing from the Update set have been renumbered. The Update rookies are numbered 601-610 and the Update highlights are numbered 611-620. All 620 cards contain a special gold foil "Year 2000" logo.

Stan Musial NSCC Commemorative

This five-card, over-sized (3 1/2" by 5") set was distributed to attendees of the 20th Annual National Sports Collectors Convention held in Atlanta in July, 1999. The cards were packaged in complete set form within a sealed clear plastic cello wrapper. An unnumbered Cover Card (bereft of any player images) displays the 20th National Convention logo on front and a checklist on back. This was the top card in each cello wrapped set. Card NC1 was a straight parallel of Musial 1999 Fleer Tradition base card and is the only standard-sized card in the set. Cards NC2-NC4 are over-sized reprints of selected cards from the 1999 Fleer Stan Musial Monumental Moments insert - taking those standard sized cards and incorporating them into an over-sized card format with the famous Arch of St.Louis in the background.

Stan Musial autographed 50 copies of each of his ten Monumental Moments inserts. Each card is signed in blue ink and hand-numbered just below Musial's signature. In edition, each card is embossed with a Fleer logo.
