The set, produced by Donruss-Playoff and branded under the "Playoff" marque, could be had for two proofs of purchase of Armour hot dogs, along with an order form that was distributed -- along with a 50 cents off coupon -- nationwide in Sunday newspaper circulars, and $1.50 for shipping and handling.
Even though 2001 was Donruss-Playoff's first year as an MLB licensee, this set was not licensed. Therefore, all logos were airbrushed.
