[[2002 Donruss Originals]] is a 425-card set that paid tribute to Donruss sets of the 80s. The base set featured cards done in the styles of the 1982, 1984, 1986 and 1988 Donruss sets but featured active 2002 players. In addition, puzzle pieces featuring the late Ted Williams were randomly inserted into packs.
[[2009 Kellogg's Japan]] is a set of six "rulers" produced for the Japanese market. Each ruler measures fifteen centimeters and features lenticular printing of the player "in action." Unlike the previous two year's Kellogg's Japan sets, these "cards" do not have the Upper Deck branding.

The Donruss Originals product, containing the first 400 cards, was released in September, 2002. All 50 Rated Rookies and another 50 star player cards were short-printed with the 50 superstar SPs scattered throughout the set.

The final 25 cards were randomly seeded into hobby and retail packs of 2002 Donruss The Rookies (of which was released in mid-December 2002) featuring a selection of prospects.

Donruss had plans to release a second series of Originals in 2003 featuring all the odd years, but was cancelled.
