National, The: (NSCC) The National Sports Collectors Convention, an annual card show that has grown from a small hotel ballroom card show to the premiere card show/trade show/mega-event it is today. First staged in 1980, The National rotates venues on a yearly basis.
The National reached a Junk Wax Era apex in 1991, when 100,000 collectors attended the 12th National in Anaheim, California. By comparison, the 1999 National in Atlanta drew a crowd of only 25,000; however, the 2014 edition was the third most attended event (43,200) in the 35-year history of The National. The 2023 edition in Rosemont, IL broke the record drawing over 100,000.
