Each pack of ''1969 O-Pee-Chee Baseball'' yielded one of 24 Deckle Edge inserts.  The set is similar to the 33-card set that was inserted into packs of '69 Topps Series Three.  Like the Topps cards, each card is 2 1/8" X 3 1/8" with jagged "deckled" edges.  The only differences between the OPC and Topps sets are A) The OPC checklist is nine-cards smaller, B) The facsimile autograph on the front of the OPC cards are in black instead of blue, and C) the OPC backs are blank.  The OPC set is also not sequentially-numbered.

Description

1969 O-Pee-Chee is a 218-card set produced for the Canadian market. As with most OPC sets of the era, the set was produced under license from Topps and uses the same design as that year's Topps set.

As this was the first year for Major League Baseball in Canada, the checklist is heavily skewed towards the Montreal Expos -- and to a certain extent the Seattle Pilots.

Graig Nettles is the only notable rookie card. Unlike in the Topps set, there is no Reggie Jackson RC.

Distribution

Five cards plus one stick of gum per pack (MSRP: C$0.05).

NOTE: Unlike future O-Pee-Chee baseball sets, there is no French text -- which is curious considering Montreal entered the league in '69. The backs of each OPC card have a bright magenta color, as opposed to the peach of the Topps. In addition, each card is marked "PRINTED IN CANADA" on the back side.
