Description
1992 Fleer Update is a 132-card postseason update set. Like other iterations of this set, it was available exclusively through Hobby dealers as a factory set only. New for 1992 was the addition of a four-card "'92 Headliners" insert that was included in each set. The design is identical to the regular issue 1992 Fleer cards released earlier in the year except for the U-prefixed numbering on back. The cards are checklisted alphabetically within and according to teams for each league with AL preceding NL.
Due to lackluster sales for previous Fleer Update sets, wholesale orders for this product were low, resulting in Fleer printing the 1992 Update set to order. As word got out that the cards were in short supply, the secondary market prices soared soon after release. Rookie Cards in this set include Jeff Kent and Mike Piazza. The Piazza card is widely recognized as one of the more desirable rookie cards of The Junk Wax Era.
