	1989 Fleer consists of 660 cards. Card fronts feature a distinctive gray border background with white and yellow trim. Cards are again organized alphabetically within team. One of the Hobby's most notorious errors hails from this product. Card #616, Billy Ripken, was originally published with the words "FUCK FACE" clearly written on the knob of the bat. Needless to say, this caused quite a stir in 1989 and the card was quickly reprinted. Because of this, several different variations were printed with the final solution (and the most common version of this card) being a black box covering the bat knob. The first variation is still actively sought after in the hobby and the other versions are still sought after by collectors seeking a "master" set.

	For the third and final year, Fleer produced a Glossy "Tin" set. These cards are identical to the regular Fleer cards except for the glossy sheen on the front. As many dealers did not order this product, this set is considerably scarcer than the regular 1989 Fleer set and the preceding years of Glossy parallels. Unlike the previous two seasons, the update set was not issued in Glossy form. It is estimated that Fleer made approximately 30,000 of these sets.
