1988 Leaf is a 264-card set issued by Donruss for the Canadian market. Except for the sequential-numbering, the company logo, and the bilingual backs, the cards are essentially the same as the [[1988 Donruss]] set.

Diamond Kings (numbers 1-26, denoted DK) and Rated Rookies (numbers 28-47, denoted RR) are included just as in the American set. There are also bonus cards of the the two Canadian teams' MVP's, George Bell and Tim Raines -- both cards were "inserts" in the American set.

As with previous Leaf sets, the players featured are heavily biased toward Canadian teams and those American teams closest to the Canadian border. Two cards, Dick Perez artwork of George Bell (#213) and Tim Wallach (#255), are called the Canadian Greats (CG) and are not contained in the American set. Rookies include Roberto Alomar and Mark Grace.

After a four-year run, this would be the final year for Leaf as the Canadian edition of Donruss. In 1990, Donruss would reintroduce the brand as a "premium" product, creating one of the landmarks of The Junk Wax Era.
