1982 ASA Mickey Mantle is a 72-card set. The Authentic Sports Autograph (ASA) company created this tribute highlighting Mantle's career from his rookie year in 1951, all the way to the present. Some of the photographs used were supplied directly from Mr. Mantle himself, and had never been published before.

ASA produced 20,000 sets with the first 5000 containing an authentic Mickey Mantle autograph. The 5000 autographed sets have blue backs while the remaining 15,000 unautographed sets have red ink backs -- although some blue back sets without the autograph have emerged -- probably due to the fact that ASA may not have received enough orders for 5000 autographed sets. In addition, each autographed set has a serial-numbered Certificate of Authenticity -- something unheard of for 1982.

Sets were distributed exclusively through Reneta Galasso's Hobby mail order operation.
