Set of the Month

2004 Topps Traded & Rookies is a 220-card set released in October, 2004. Cards numbered T1-T65 feature players who changed teams during the 2004 season, while cards numbered T66-T70 feature managers who took over teams after the basic set was issued. Cards T71-T90 were players selected in the 2004 MLB First Year Player Draft, T91-T110 are Prospects, and cards T111-T220 Rookies. According to the terms of their agreement with the MLB Players Association, Traded & Rookies is the only Topps-branded product that could feature non 40-man roster players.

Each 11-card wax pack contained two Chrome parallel cards.

An additional card (#T221) of Barry Bonds was distributed by Topps directly to hobby shop accounts enrolled in the Home Team Advantage program in early January, 2005.

2020 Topps Museum Collection is a 100-card set released July 29th. Each pack will contain either an autograph or a relic. Each four-pack box will yield the following:

  • A Canvas Collection insert

2020 Donruss Optic was released July 22nd. As usual, Optic is a 200-card chromium-stock take on the 2020 Donruss set. Each 20-pack Hobby box will yield 20 inserts 10 parallels, and a pair of autographs.

Randomly seeded "Hot Boxes" will yield five autographs, or one serial-numbered parallel per pack.

"First off the Line" boxes were made available exclusively through paniniamerica.net. These boxes contain three autographed per box (one of which will be serial-numbered to 35 copies or fewer), a Pandora parallel serial-numbered to 99 in each pack, and a Cracked Ice parallel serial-numbered to seven per box.

2020 Topps Sterling was released July 22nd. It is the first Topps Sterling set in ten years. Each two-card box contains two autographed game-used cards serial-numbered to 25 copies or less. Unlike previous iterations of this product, there is no base set. Every fourth box will yield a one-of-one.

We estimate 880 eight-box Hobby cases were produced.

2020 Absolute is a 166-card set released by Panini July 10th. This is the first Absolute set in fifteen years, when it was issued by Panini's predecessor Donruss-Playoff.

As usual, each 24-pack Hobby box will yield either an autograph or a Relic card while Hobby-exclusive jumbo boxes will yield an autograph, a game-used Relic, and a manufactured "relic."

2020 Finest is a 125-card set released by Topps on June 19th. Each box will yield two autographs.

2020 Topps Big League is a 300-card set released June 19th. Like the the previous year's product, it is targeted toward young collectors. New for 2020 are "Hobby Collector Boxes" which contain an action figure.

2020 Topps Tier One was released June 5th. As usual, all cards are either autographs or relics and there is no base set in the traditional sense. Each three-card box will contain two autographs and a relic.

2020 Select was released May 22nd. This is the first Select brand in seven years, and the first baseball product issued by Panini since the COVID-19 outbreak. As with the 2013 edition, all cards are printed on chromium stock. The 250-card base set fractured into three levels.

Each 12-pack Hobby box will yield nine Prizm parallels, two autographs, and two game-used cards.

2020 Bowman is a 100-card set, supplemented by a 150-card Prospects set, tentatively scheduled for release May 27th. Each Hobby box will yield one autograph, 19 inserts, and one Atomic Refractor. Hobby Jumbo boxes will contain three autographs.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, 2020 Bowman -- along with other Topps releases -- was delayed from its original release date of April 10th as the Texas-based facility that produces and distributes Topps' pack-based products was ordered closed by the Texas state government.

2020 Topps Definitive Collection was released April 24th. An all "hit" product, each eight-card box will yield six on-card autographs and two Relics.

The 2020 edition of Tribute was originally scheduled for release April 3rd, back to it's traditional Opening Day release after last year's set was delayed until August. Two of the Relics in each Hobby box will b multi-swatch.
