Dufex: An unique printing technique developed by the F. J. Warren company of Great Britian, and most famously employed in The Hobby by Pinnacle Brands. The process involves taking an aluminum lined paper sprayed with special ultraviolet transparent inks. After the ink dries, the cards are then hand engraved giving them their trademark "etched foil" design.
Pinnacle introduced the trading card world to Dufex in 1993 Select baseball with the "Select Stars," "Select Rookies," "Select Aces" and "Triple Crown Winners" inserts. When Pinnacle Brands went out of business in 1998, many thought we had seen the last of Dufex cards. However, Topps brought back the Dufex for the "Dreamcast" inserts in the second series of 2000 Finest baseball.
