NOTE: These final six cards were added late in the production run, and are slightly short-printed.

A card of Ken Griffey, Jr. being introduced as a member of his new/old team, the Mariners, was inserted into packs of 2009 Upper Deck A Piece of History. This card is done in the style of 2009 Upper Deck Baseball and is sequentially-numbered #93 -- the same card number as Griffey's base card which depicts him as a Chicago White Sox.

David-Price-(White-Uniform).jpg?id=7c59812c-b3af-4951-8a54-39db5f40b69e&size=original&side=front&.jpg David-Price-(White-Uniform).jpg?id=7c59812c-b3af-4951-8a54-39db5f40b69e&size=original&side=back&.jpg

An un-announced gimmick card of David Price was inserted into Series One packs. Whereas the "base" card show Price in an away uniform, the gimmick card has him in his home shirt.

Ken-Griffey-Jr-(1990).jpg?id=9225da83-ba9a-435a-8b1c-f4645e633560&size=original&side=front&.jpg Ken-Griffey-Jr-(1990).jpg?id=9225da83-ba9a-435a-8b1c-f4645e633560&size=original&side=back&.jpg

Finally for Series Two, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Ken Griffey, Jr's appearance as the first card in the landmark 1989 Upper Deck Baseball set, Upper Deck created 20 different versions (one for each season) of his 2009 Upper Deck Series Two base card (#855). Each individual card shows a photograph of Griffey taken from that particular year, and the statistics on the back are cumulative to the year in question.

It is believed that the 1989-2008 cards are Hobby only and seeded into packs at the rate of one-per-box. Griffey's "2009" card -- featuring career statistics up to 2008 -- is available at the same rate as any other base card.

All 1006 cards, plus the Joe DiMaggio Card #0 SP (see below) are available in a Gold parallel serial-numbered to 99 copies.

The Joe DiMaggio (#0) and the Michael Jordan / Ken Griffey, Jr. cards were randomly inserted into Series One packs. The DiMaggio card shares the same design as the base set, while the Jordan/Griffey is more in line with the SP cards of the early-90s.

Cards SP1, SP2, and SP3 also share the same design as the base set, with the exception of a red line running down the bottom of the card. Cards SP1 and SP2 were randomly inserted into packs of 2009 Upper Deck Ballpark Collection while SP3 was in 2009 SP Authentic.

To commemorate Ken Griffey, Jr's return to the Seattle Mariners, Upper Deck created a special card which was distributed exclusively to Hobby stores around the time of Opening Day of the 2009 season. The card features a caricature of Griffey with the Mariner Moose throwing a fish.

This 11-card set commemorates prominent events and personalities from 2008. Cards 1-10 were inserted into Series One packs, while #11 was in Series Two. #11 is noticeably tougher to puller than the Series One cards.

Historic Firsts Predictors

This nine-card set features a tongue-in-cheek series of events that Upper Deck thought might come true in 2009. When it appeared that Chicago had a shot at winning the rights to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, UD announced that any collector holding the Chicago Olympics Historic Predictor card could redeem it for a free pack of Upper Deck cards if Chicago won. Chicago, of course, did not win (Thanks Obama).

A tenth card of Tiger Woods was on the provisional checklist, but was never issued.

In 2008, Upper Deck acquired the rights to the O-Pee-Chee brand name and produced this 50-card insert based on the 1975 O-Pee-Chee set (which, of course, is based on the 1975 Topps set). The set is also available in a '75 Topps Mini-sized parallel, which the original '75 OPCs weren't.

Upper Deck bought back a number of 1989 Upper Deck cards and stamped them with a "20th Anniversary Buybacks" foil logo on the front. Upper Deck claimed all 800 cards were produced in even quantities.

Originally this insert was to be done in the style of the 1977 O-Pee-Chee Baseball set. However, a lawsuit filed by Topps caused Upper Deck to change the fronts of the cards to that of their 2009 O-Pee-Chee Baseball set (which was supposed to look like 1971 Topps). The backs of the cards still carry the '77 OPC/Topps layout, but are stamped with the word "PREVIEW".

Ken Griffey, Jr. A Piece of History 600 HR Club

In 2008, Ken Griffey, Jr. became the sixth player in baseball history to hit 600 career home runs. To commemorate, Upper Deck created this special game-used card and randomly inserted it into Series Two packs. Unlike their popular 500 HR Club set, UD did not go back and add to this set with the other 600 HR Club members.

Buyback Autographs

Upper Deck bought back 89 copies of Ken Griffey, Jr's 1989 Upper Deck and 93 copies of Derek Jeter's 1993 Upper Deck rookie cards, hand-numbered each card, had both athletes autograph them, and randomly inserted them into Series One (Griffey) and Series Two (Jeter) packs.

One copy of each card (serial number 89/89 for Griffey, and 93/93 for Jeter) was held back and given away by Beckett in contests. Each contest card was slabbed (but not professionally graded) by BGS.

In addition, Griffey signed the first 76 cards in blue ink, and the final 13 in black ink. Jeter signed all 93 of allotted cards in blue ink.
