This three-card set is a rare instance of inter-company cooperation.  Cards numbered 1 and 250 of Ted Williams, reprints of both of Williams' [[1954 Topps]] cards, were not included in that company's [[1994 Topps Archives]] edition due to the terms of his contract with Upper Deck. Like Williams, Mickey Mantle had an exclusive agreement with Upper Deck that precluded his appearance in the 1954 Topps Archives set. Mantle didn't even appear in the original 1954 Topps set due to his then exclusive contract with Bowman. This "card that never was" is similar to the original 1954 set design.
