Description

1910 E-98 is a 30-card set of indeterminable origin. Since Jefferson Burdick assigned it an "E" prefix, it is assumed that it's one of many "generic" Caramel card sets of the 1910s. "Generic" because it is believed that a single company printed the cards and distributed them to various candy companies for distribution.

The E-98 set is also known as the "Set of 30" set as the backs contain the phrase: "This card is one of a set of the following 30 BALL PLAYERS" along with the checklist. 17 of the 30 players have been inducted in the Hall of Fame.

There are four different background color variations: Orange, Blue, Green, and Red -- Orange being the most common and Red the rarest.

In 2012, a cache of over 700 well-preserved E-98s were found in the attic of a house in Defiance, Ohio. Many of the cards were submitted to PSA with some of the cards achieving the coveted PSA 8, 9, and 10 grades -- including a PSA 10 of Honus Wagner.
